I Was Broke, Homeless and Too Young
It was great to catch up with my first Trainer / Mentor in Hypnosis, NLP, Timeline Therapy & Huna David Shephard with the lovely Sally Ann Davies in Spain this past week for Huna level 2.
It has been close to 25 years since I started this journey in learning from the best change workers in the world .
When I started learning this “stuff” in the late 90’s there wasn’t many schools in London, England where I’m from that taught it.
I remember picking up and reading “Unlimited Power” by Anthony Robbins at JFK airport after my flight was delayed and I was looking for something to do. After unceremoniously getting fired from two summer camps (I think I set some kind of record)
I knew at that point that was what I wanted to do. I wanted to help people break free from the shackles of their suffering but I didn’t wanna be a counsellor and listens to people bitch and complain for years and barely change. I also wanted to perform but didn’t want to be a actor and have zero musical ability (although I do look like a rockstar) cheap pop
I had no job, was basically homeless and oozed insecurity and anxiety.
Then after searching a lot of footwork (early days of the internet) I found David and Sally of the Performance Partnership.
Now I had no $$$ I was just a broke a$$ 19 year old kid!
But I remember knowing that I needed to do the training in Hypnosis & NLP (had no idea what timeline therapy was and had little interest at the time.)
The Practitioner / Master Practitioner training at the time I think was like $10,000. And that was a lot of money especially given I didn’t really even have a roof over my.
But I knew I had to find a way. So I went into the bank (Natwest) if they even exist anymore? And convinced them to give me a $10,000 loan. Now remember I had no job, was couch surfing and no consigner.
But I used elements for the Anthony Robbins book I mentioned earlier (basically NLP) but he calls it something different.
And convinced them to hand over the $$$!
I had 5yrs to pay back the loan and did it in 3 (yay me )
And that my friends is how it all begun…
