The ABC’s Of Anxiety

The ABC's Of Anxiety

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. We are live here in downtown Toronto on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. How are you all doing? So tonight for our Facebook live, I am going to describe a wonderful technique. It's called the ABCs of anxiety and how you can simply use the ABCs of anxiety to help alleviate the symptoms of anxiety rather rapidly. And we're talking within the space of 30 seconds. That's how powerful it's going to be. So that's coming up in a few moments.

But who am I? In case this is the first time we've ever met, my name's Luke Michael Howard. I'm a clinical hypnotist. It basically means I help people solve things they believe are unsolvable. I help people fix things they believe are unfixable. I've worked for governments and I've worked for celebrities but I've also worked for the people that have fallen through the cracks and they've almost lost all hope and they're at their last resort. I have a particular set of skills, skills that make me a nightmare for your anxiety. If you've got anxiety and you've lost all hope, come find me. I can help you fix you. Excuse me.

Also, why else should you listen to me? I used to have anxiety. I had pretty much most forms of anxiety, in fact. OCD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety was a big one for me, PTSD, and CPTSD just to name, but a few. And I spent my formative years from about the age of 10 to about 20 going through all kinds of therapy that didn't work for me. It was great because I could run my mouth off for an hour once a week and feel that I was listened to, but I would leave and I would still have that problem of anxiety.

And people, doctors would administer drugs or medication to me, but I knew at a young age, I did not want to go down that route so I declined it. And then I spent a long, long time researching the best ways, the fastest ways, the most thorough ways, the cleanest ways to get rid of anxiety. And then 40, excuse me, 21 years later, here I am. And it is my birthday tomorrow so if you want to send me gifts, please do so. So I've overcome it. I was there, experienced pretty much every form of anxiety you could imagine, and I overcame it and I now help other people overcome it.

I'm also writing the book. I'm about 17,000 words into this book...sounds impressive, doesn't it...on anxiety. It's gonna be a manual on how to run your mind with some case studies of clients I've worked with to help you to eagerly and effortlessly...well, it will require a little bit of effort to overcome your anxiety and that will come out later this year.

If you've just joined, give me a thumbs up, give me a wave. As mentioned, I'm going to be talking about the ABCs of anxiety. Just going to scroll down my screen because some people have joined us. Give them a shout shot. Hey, Hannah. How are you? Give me a thumbs up. I'm gonna butcher your name right now so I apologize upfront. Nonsikeleko [SP], hey, how are you? Nice to meet you. Hey, Sheila. How are you? Debbie, how are you? Scotty, how are you? Hey, Hannah. Thank you for the happy birthday wishes. Great. Sally, how are you?

So I'm gonna teach you a technique tonight on how to get distance, how to dial down, delete, render, obsolete your anxiety. This is not my technique, I did not originate this technique. It originated from another hypnotist in England called Derek Chapman. Great hypnotist. So I got this technique from him actually, so shout out to Derek Chapman. It's called the ABCs of anxiety.

Just gonna scroll down. Hey, Camille. How are you? Kristen, how are you? If you just joined, give me a thumbs up, give me a wave, or even better, give me one of those big beautiful hearts. Hard to send you a birthday gift. I don't know where you live. Okay. That's what Debbie says. I'll give you my address after and you can send me something by FedEx. FedEx, next-day delivery. Just kidding.

Okay. ABCs, how to overcome anxiety. These are really great techniques, and all you've got to do is remember ABC. A stands for...Oh boy, my mind just went blank. Isn't it crazy when your mind just goes blank? But now, it's all right. It's come into my head. Oftentimes when people are anxious, they tense up their muscles, they tense up their neck, they tense around the collar bone and their shoulders. So the A stands for arms. First thing you do is when you're in the throes of anxiety, you relax your arms, you relax your shoulders, just let them relax. You relax your hands. Don't want to be making fists. This will trigger the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response. So the A in the ABC stands for arms. You're feeling anxiety, first thing you do, go to A, go to arms, relax them. Just relax them. Pretty simple, right? That the A.

The B stands for breathe. Oftentimes we're in the throes of anxiety or panic attack or some kind of episode, we're breathing shallowly into the chest, we're triggering again the four Fs, fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response. A way to start to switch that off is to tell our body and our unconscious mind and our amygdala that things are okay, breathe into your belly. So the B in ABC stands for breathe. You breathe into your belly, you fill it up, you hold it for a minute. Not literally a minute but you know what I mean. And then you take twice as long to slowly breathe out.

Hey, Sally. How are you? I hope I pronounce your name right. Rihanna, how are you? Nice to meet you if you just joined us. So A is the arms, relax your arms. B stands for breathe. Hello, Macy, how are you? If you just joined us, give me a wave, give me a thumbs up, give me a heart. The C, I'm giving fingers because I don't know the ABCs on my fingers so I'm giving numbers. The C stands for calm. You think, you see the word calm written inside your brain.

So again, recap, having an anxiety attack, going through the symptoms of anxiety, first thing you do is you go to the ABCs. A, arms, relax them, relax your shoulders, relax your fists. Just relax them like they're bits of spaghetti. Relax your arms, A. B, breathe. Most people will breathe here. Hey Kanguso [SP], how are you? Breathe into your belly to switch off that fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response. Big deep tummy breath in, hold it for a few seconds, take twice as long to slowly breathe all the way out.

The C stands for calm. You think the word calm, you see the word calm tattooed in your mind, in your brain. And you'll probably notice everything just starts to slow right down. So it's very, very simple. Oftentimes when we're in the throes of an anxiety attack, a panic attack, "Oh, what do I do? What do I do? Oh my God." Simple, go back, ABCs. Arms, relax them. B, breathe into your belly. C, see the word, feel the word, feel the word calm, imagine it tattooed on your brain or your mind, and just do that. And you'll notice you'll dial the anxiety all the way down.

So as always, don't just listen to this because just listening to it ain't going to make a blind bit of difference in your life. Actually use this. Make a commitment that the next time that you feel anxiety, you're going to use the ABCs. Again, recap, really simple, guys. A, arms, relax them. B, breathe deep. C, imagine, see the word calm, feel it written on your brain, written on your mind there to dial the anxiety all the way down. Rihanna says, "I just tried that, works amazing." Kind of cool, huh?

The techniques that I either develop or I model [inaudible 00:08:46] because our techniques, they work rapidly. I feel to use the model of counseling or psychotherapy, to have someone come and see me for four years, get them to talk about their shit, technical word, over and over again, and retraumatize them is the very worst thing that I can do because when people come to see me, they've already been traumatized enough. My job is to help them get out of trauma and into relief as quickly as possible. So all my techniques work very, very rapidly. Some in as little as three seconds, some it might take all the way up to one minute for you to start to feel rapid change in your life. So go ahead and use that.

Hey, Richard. How are you? If you just joined us, give us a thumbs up, give us a wave, give us a heart. And if you feel that you know anyone else that's suffering from anxiety that could benefit from some of these techniques, then please send them this video. If you're on any Facebook groups that deal with anxiety or like problems, then please do put this, share this video with them to help these people. I'm gonna be here for a few more minutes. If you've got any more questions, well, I've got a few more minutes before I need to get on with my night, about anxiety, about hypnosis, or me, put your questions in the comments box below and I will endeavor...thank you for all the hearts...to answer those questions right now.

Hey, Tammy. How are you? If you just joined us, give us a thumbs up, give us a wave, or give us even more hearts. That's right. Very, very good. Was anyone here yesterday for our virtual hypnotic vacation to Disneyland? I know Deb was, but anyone else that was here yesterday who went through either live or watched the replay that's probably just below this video on when we all went to Disneyland with the virtual hypnotic experience yesterday? If you did, type yes in the comments below.

Every Wednesday on Facebook Live somewhere between 6:30 and 8 p.m., we're gonna go on a different vacation for the next four weeks. Different vacation every Wednesday, somewhere in the world where maybe physically you can't leave the country at the moment...Scotty did, that's awesome...but in your mind, you can definitely go on a vacation. So I'll be taking you somewhere different every Wednesday and it will be a surprise where we will be going, but you're gonna enjoy it.

Unless you have any more questions, guys, I'm gonna call it a night. So wherever you are, hope you're safe and everything's going well, and I will see you maybe tomorrow. It's my birthday tomorrow if I haven't already announced. So I might come on tomorrow, I might not. I'll see how I feel. But if I do, it'll be around between 7 and 8 p.m. tomorrow and you can help celebrate. But as always, see you. Same Luke time, same Luke place, same Luke channel.

If you want to have a chat with me to see if I can help,  you can schedule something here; http://Lukenosis.com/screeningcall/
